Sri Lanka Extends Visa-Free Entry to 40 More Countries

Colombo, July 25, 2025 – The Sri Lankan government has announced the extension of visa-free entry to tourists from 40 additional countries in an effort to strengthen the nation’s tourism sector. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Vijitha Herath, revealed this initiative at the opening of the “Hotel Show Colombo 2025” at BMICH.

While the move is expected to reduce direct government revenue by approximately USD 66 million annually, Minister Herath emphasized that increased tourist arrivals and related economic benefits will outweigh the loss.

This follows a previous visa fee waiver for seven countries, including the United Kingdom, aiming to make Sri Lanka a more accessible and attractive destination for travelers. Stay with us, we will update the list of countries as soon as possible
